Local Area Tours and Hill Walking
The West of Scotland Experience This day long tour of the area’s most gorgeous scenery heads through the beautiful coastal village of Maidens before arriving at Culzean Castle estate, where you’ll visit such enjoyable attractions as Red Deer Park, the Walled Garden, The Swan Pond and the Pagoda. Then it’s onto the castle itself, one of Scotland’s most famous and remarkable old houses. The ancestral home of the Marquess of Ailsa, the interiors have been beautifully restored and make for a fascinating tour. Morning coffee is taken at the Home Farm Museum and Restaurant. On leaving Culzean, the tour continues along the Carrick coast taking in the Electric Brae and Dunure Castle. Half an hour later, we arrive at Burns Cottage in Alloway. The birthplace of Scottish poet, Robert Burns, this quaint, thatched cottage is the first stop on a short Burns tour that also takes in the Tam O’Shanter Experience, Brig O’Doon and the Burns Monument. After lunch, you’ll be whisked to the town of Maybole and Crossraguel Abbey, dropping into Souter Johnnie’s cottage in Kirkoswald, home to one of Burns’ closest friends. Then, it’s time to head home, via Turnberry village. The day, having started at 9.30am, finishes back at the hotel at 4.00pm. Please allow at least 1 day’s notice. All entry fees, lunch and coffee are not included. Alternative tours to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Portpatrick, Loch Lomond and The Garden Experience can also be arranged to suit your requirements. Min 2 persons, max 30 £75 per person Hillwalking Scotland is renowned the world over for its breathtaking scenery, with the South West famous for lush countryside and gently rolling hills. Our organised hillwalking trips take in the beautiful Loch Doon hills in Ayrshire, led by a guide with a wealth of information about the land; its myths and legends. The more experienced walker will love our trip to the rugged Merrick hills, where great scenery is matched by a good workout in the open air. As any walker knows, boots need to be eased in gently before venturing into the hills so, regrettably, we cannot supply footwear. If you don’t have your own boots, trainers can be worn on our softer, gentler walks where there are good footpaths. Rainwear can be supplied. Please allow 1 day’s notice.
