The Open Returns To Ailsa
Picture yourself on the 10th tee. The waves are crashing below, the famous old lighthouse is close-by and between you and the safety of the fairway lies 200 yards of open water and perilous rock. This is what links golf is all about. This is why The Open is coming back to Turnberry.
The Ailsa has always been one of the world’s great golfing challenges. Now, thanks to a series of exhilarating changes, including six new tees and 250 new hard yards, it has become even more dramatic. When the world’s best players line up on the first tee on 16 July this year, they’ll be trying to emulate the heroic feats of previous Open winners at Turnberry: Tom Watson in 1977, Greg Norman in 1986 and Nick Price in 1994.
But links golf at Turnberry isn’t an experience reserved for the leading pros. It’s a thrill available to all who love the great game.
Before the Open, we have some very limited day and accommodation packages available to play the Ailsa’s sister course, the extraordinary Kintyre. For further details click here.
Then, once the 138th Open has concluded and we know the next name on that famous old Claret Jug, you’ll be able to recreate the Open magic yourself on the Ailsa. You can find out more here.
