The par 5 opening hole of the Kintyre course is a long dog-leg left. Its name refers to the adjacent barley fields planted after the Second World War. The ideal tee shot should favour the left side of the fairway to avoid the bunkers on the right. A burn winds its way across the fairway in the second shot landing area; therefore, players may have to lay up short to avoid it. The green is surrounded by gorse and a large greenside bunker looms on the right. | |||
